Miles House Day Nursery will close its doors on December 23rd 2016 after seven years in Bathwick Hill, Bath.

Making the announcement this week, Mike Thompson, CEO at Childbase Partnership, attributes declining numbers of 0-5 year olds in the direct vicinity of the nursery for the closure, the first in the company’s 27 year history.

The move follows significant investment at the day nursery, with the addition of a new preschool suite and imaginative transformation of the large garden, at the beginning of the year.

“This has been an extremely difficult decision but, unfortunately, we have been unable to find a viable solution that keeps us in Bath and benefits our colleagues and the children and families in our care,” he said.

“The 19 member staff team are being fully supported at this difficult time as part of a consultation process which includes exploring opportunities for alternative employment at other sites within the company.”

“I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank our Bath colleagues for their hard work, professionalism and unfailing commitment to children and their families during the last six years.”

Miles House Day Nursery is part of the employee-owned Childbase Partnership which has 44 day nurseries throughout the South of England.
