The Corsham School has appointed a new Headteacher, Rod Bell, who will also become the Executive Headteacher of Corsham Regis Primary Academy.

Rod is taking on the role having been a teacher for almost 18 years and spending the last ten years within the senior leadership team at Gordano School in Portishead, North Somerset.

Speaking about his appointment, Rod explained, “I have been overwhelmed by the warm welcome I received since joining the school and, upon meeting many of the teaching and support staff, I have been impressed by their highly skilled and professional approaches to teaching and learning and their dedication and commitment to their students. The students who I have had the pleasure to meet have been inquisitive, engaging and generally proud of their school.

“I am determined to secure an outstanding future for the school and all the young people it serves. It is clear the school has many strengths and enormous potential and I look forward to the prospect of leading its next phase of development.

“I hold a strong belief in the power of education to change children’s lives and the right of every child to receive an excellent education. I am dedicated to building opportunities for students to achieve the highest academic standards, ensuring that they are known well as individuals and that their unique personality, talents and interests are nurtured and developed to the full. The Corsham School education is about developing the whole child and providing opportunities for them to flourish within and beyond the classroom. I know how vital working in partnerships with parents really is for children to find school a positive and rewarding experience. This strong partnership between parents and the school is so important in enabling children to achieve success.

“Our excellent academic reputation is a great source of pride; however, our emphasis on developing the whole person is a fundamental part of the education we provide. As a school, we promote individuality, independence, and creativity. We aim to continue to be at the forefront of digital learning. We emphasise social, cultural, moral and spiritual development and we pride ourselves on developing responsible, tolerant, global 21st century citizens.”
