News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

The Bath Area Play Project (BAPP) has taken the decision to cancel the national play day that was due to take place on 2 August at Queen Square Bath.

In a statement, BAPP explained, ‘It is with great regret and sadness that we have made the decision to CANCEL our National Playday event due to the predicted weather conditions.

‘With structures such as marquees and gazebos together with inflatables, the wind speed and amount of rain predicted would not make for a safe event so it is primarily on health and safety grounds that we are making this decision.

‘We hope that the weather doesn’t change significantly for the better as we will be unable to change our decision due to the planning and set up required which should be starting at midday today.

‘This has been an incredibly difficult decision and not taken lightly and we hope that you will support us.

‘We have never had to cancel a National Playday event before and we look forward to us all coming together next year – please put the date in your diaries/calendars – Wednesday 1st August 2018.’

BAPP will, however, continue to hold its excellent play day events at venues across the region in August. These run from 1-4pm each day and include –

August 10 – Wheely Fun Day at Odd Down Cycle Circuit in Bath

14 August – Play Day at Pennyquick Park, Twerton, Bath

15 August – Play Day at Alice Park, Bath

16 August – Play Day at Sandpits Park, Oldfield Park, Bath

17 August – Play Day at Memorial Park, Paulton
