News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Venues across Bath and North East Somerset will open up their doors this September as part of an annual, nationwide celebration of history, architecture and culture.

Heritage Open Days (6-9 and 13-16 September 2018) will offer people a chance to see hidden places and try new experiences – all for free.

The open days promise something for all ages and interests over the two long weekends, for example:

Meet the Roman Baths team at Lansdown North Local History Store, and take a tour of the weird and wonderful spa collection.

See inside No 4 Circus, a beautiful Georgian house, and wander around the restored Georgian Garden, the first of its kind in Britain to be discovered by archaeology and reinstated.

Discover the Bath Jewish Burial Ground, a small, secluded Georgian burial ground which is only open to the public a few times a year.

Visit Cleveland Pools, the oldest open-air swimming pool in Western Europe, set on the banks of the River Avon.

Explore Saltford Heritage Centre, where you can learn about Saltford’s fascinating past and see ancient artefacts from the local area.

Go behind the scenes at Bath and North East Somerset Recycling Depot, and find out what happens before your weekly recycling is turned into new products.

Opening dates and times vary. Advance booking is essential at some venues.
