Two of the egg theatre’s favourite companies, Tangled Feet and Half Moon Theatre, have joined up for Butterflies, an uplifting adventure story for pre-school and Early Years audiences.
Three friends embark on an exciting adventure to chase their butterflies away. They cross new seas to uncharted land on a journey filled with discovery. The only trouble is they’re all a bit worried about it! During their voyage, the group ride the waves, walk high bridges, skirt deep caves and climb to the sky, before reaching dry land braver than ever before.
The intrepid characters tell their tale using innovative staging, breathtaking physicality, touching humour and a specially commissioned score, in a story designed to help young and pre-school children face the changes that will occur in their lives.
‘Butterflies’ shines a light on the challenging circumstances many young people are living in. As someone who has had anxiety for as long as I can remember – certainly from the age of the young audience sat around me, captivated by the show – seeing Butterflies 20 years ago would have been a truly transformative experience, though watching it now is powerful enough,’ Children’s Theatre Reviews.
Butterflies is at the egg theatre from Friday 19 – Sunday 21 October, with performances at 10am & 1pm on Friday, and 11.30am & 3pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Tickets cost from £6.50 are on sale from the egg reception on 01225 823409, the Theatre Royal Box Office on 01225 448844 and online at www.theatreroyal.org.uk
