News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

The Life Project, which supports adults and children with learning disabilities in the Bath area, is celebrating this week after hearing they have secured three years funding from the St John’s Foundation in Bath to continue its successful and much-needed Parent-Carer Drop-in Group.

The group, which previously ran as a pilot, has been welcomed by all those who participate and they are looking forward to welcoming more parents and carers in the months to come.

This group is open to all parents and carers of people with learning disabilities, and offers an opportunity to meet others, chat and access support and guidance about the important or difficult issues they face. Parents can bring pre-school children too as play facilities are available. Pilates sessions have proved to be very popular – it may be the only time in the week when parents and carers find something they can do for themselves.

Those attending so far have described group as:
“A unique place, destressing over a cuppa, a few moments of peace”

“Time away from all the pressures”

“We can support one another”

“Valuable ‘me’ time with like-minded parents”.

The Parent Carers group meets at the Weston Hub, Penn Hill Road, Weston, BA1 4EH every Tuesday during term time from 10am to 2.00pm. If you would like to access this group, please e-mail email hidden; JavaScript is required.
