News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

56 very excited pupils from Batheaston Church School recently met the GB Fed Cup Tennis Team for a morning of fun and exercise at the University of Bath. In addition to joining in with activities on Centre Court, they came face to face with their tennis heroes including Heather Watson and Johanna Konte.

The pupils were taking part in a ‘Tennis for Kids’ showcase where they were involved in a range of activities to further improve their tennis skills. On top of all this excitement, Alafair and Boudica from Year 5 were given the once in a lifetime opportunity to actually interview Johanna Konte. When they asked her about her proudest moment, she replied, “Representing GB in Rio at the Olympics.”

The full interview can be seen on the British Tennis Twitter page.

Headteacher Sally Jefferies said, “I think being able to come to a facility like this which is on our doorstep is inspiring and this experience definitely has the wow factor to inspire more children to take up tennis.”

After an exhausting morning playing alongside the GB Fed Cup Team, Batheaston children were then delighted to see themselves on the local news that evening. A great way to end a super day.
