Year 2 children at Bathford Primary School had a great afternoon recently re-enacting the Great Fire of London. As part of their class topic on London, children made Tudor-style houses, with the local fire department attending to supervise the burning of the houses. The fire department also took the opportunity to talk to the children about fire safety.
Luckily, there were no fires in the local area, which enabled firefighters to safely manage the Great Fire. What a shame the Fire Brigade weren’t so readily available in 1666!
The entire school, along with Year 2 parents, took great delight in watching the houses burn, although there were one or two children who managed to rescue their houses before they were set alight. One Reception child commented, “That was the best thing I’ve seen in school all year!”
