News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

The staff at Heywood Prep in Corsham have said a fond farewell in a small and intimate dinner for the 18 Year 6 pupils who will be moving on to their senior schools in September. The special occasion was attended by the parents of the children, along with the members of staff who have worked most closely with them during their time at Heywood.

Welcome drinks of Prosecco for the adults and raspberry infused sparkling elderflower for the children started the evening off with a true summery feel. The blue of Heywood was reflected in the table dressings which included peacock coloured menus, name plates and tea lights floating in blue water. Jars of sweets were also on the table for an aperitif!

Headmaster, Mr Guy Barrett, started the proceedings with a speech in which he told the children, “I am very proud of you all and everything you have achieved in your time at Heywood. I am sure that you will all be very successful in your senior schools. We will miss you.”

The guests then sat down to a delicious meal of chicken in sweet chilli sauce with a mixture of salads followed by strawberries and cream or lemon tartlet. In between courses, presentations were made to the Year 6 leavers which included a brief resume of their time at Heywood Prep and the memories the staff and their peers will keep of each of the children in turn. After the short speech, each child was awarded an inscribed dictionary and thesaurus to recognise their time at Heywood Prep.

It was a very special event for a very special group of young people and one which we hope they will remember fondly for many years to come.
