News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Mums, dads, grandparents and a host of relatives have all been back to school as they joined their children for a special open-classroom event at Monkton Pre-Prep near Bath.

The pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 all got to choose ‘Someone Special’ to come to the classes with them to get hands on with painting, counting, educational games and working with iPads. The ‘Someone Special’ morning is designed to give parents an insight into the school day at Monkton. The grown ups were all welcomed into the classrooms by the teachers before being given different activities to take part in with their children, including art, maths, science and reading.

Year One parent, Phil Tromans, said, “It was wonderful to join the classes with our children and get to see Monkton as they do. I really enjoyed being with my child in the classroom environment, seeing the teachers at work and joining in with the learning activities. It was so much fun.”

Monkton Pre-Prep Head, Catherine Winchcombe, added, “We were delighted to welcome so many parents, grandparents and relatives to our ‘Someone Special’ morning. We really value our strong partnership with our parent body and it was wonderful to share a new insight into school life and help our pupils share the things they love about our Pre-Prep”

The Pre-Prep’s next Open Morning takes place on Friday 17th November 2017.
