News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

The gifted and talented artists in Years 3 to 6 at the Royal High School Bath have enjoyed an inspiring workshop with local artist, Rod Craig. Held in the specialist art room at the Junior School site at Cranwell House in Weston, the girls benefitted from Mr Craig’s expert tuition.

Rod Craig is a local watercolour artist whose passion is to capture the energy and drama of a landscape, often using music and memories for his inspiration. Exhibiting locally at the Imagianation Gallery in Bath, Rod delivered a workshop inspiring the Royal High’s young artists to create watercolour pieces using a limited pallet. Rod taught the girls techniques to create the affects of different weathers or rushing water, providing a unique opportunity for experimentation into the medium of watercolour.

The workshop was followed by an opening evening for parents, girls and governors of the school at the Imagianation Gallery where the beautiful paintings from the girls were framed and exhibited amongst Mr Craig’s own paintings. Organiser of the event, year 3 teacher, Emma Appleby, commented, “The girls will cherish this experience forever.”
