News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

With sports camps, Camp Activate and free swimming, there’s plenty to keep your children busy and active this Easter holiday at Wiltshire Council leisure centres.

The popular school holiday sports camp programme returns to leisure centres for Easter, with basketball, athletics, cricket, dance and football camps all on offer at various locations across the county.

All camps run from 10am to 3pm and are open to children of various ages depending on the activity chosen, and regardless of ability. The children will receive coaching from qualified, experienced coaches from Wiltshire Cricket, Innov8sportz CIC, The Dance Lady and Swindon Town Football in the Community, and the courses are focused on games, improving skills and knowledge, and having fun.

For something a little more varied, Camp Activate, the leisure centre-based holiday activity programme, provides a range of exciting activities for young people aged five to 14.

Each programme is packed with art, sport and history activities at affordable prices, and sessions are run by fully qualified staff in line with Ofsted guidelines and have limited places to ensure they are run safely.

Wiltshire’s young people will also be able to enjoy free swimming during the Easter holidays as Wiltshire Council continues to fund free swim sessions. Children aged up to 16 can swim for free during specific public swimming sessions at their local Wiltshire Council and Places for People Leisure managed leisure centres. There is no need to book onto the sessions, but they can be busy so arrive in plenty of time, and you will need to register for a free swim membership card in advance.

Intensive swimming lessons are also available at our swimming pools, giving young people the chance to practice skills learnt in regular swimming lessons, or as a great way to introduce children to swimming lessons, allowing them to gain water confidence and new skills.
