News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

The Hills School of Irish Dance has announced the dates of its summer school. The five day workshop will take place from 13-17 August at the Bath Studio School, giving all ages and abilities the chance to learn Irish dancing, including learn traditional steps, show dances and techniques.

All participants will receive three hours of dancing tuition each day with a group of other students, as well as the opportunity to perform alongside the Summer School Folk Band!

The Hills School of Irish Dance brings over 20 years of experience to performing and competition, with the school teaching modern show and traditional ceilidh, and solo styles of Irish dance, providing children and adults with a positive and fun learning environment.

The school is run by Rebecca Hills who has over 20 years’ experience in performing and competing, Rebecca found a love in teaching which saw her launch her dance school in Bath two years ago. Combined with her qualifications in personal training and youth fitness training, her fun and energetic classes offer the encouragement to learn both teamwork and individuality, and cater for all levels from beginner to competition standard.

“Here at the Hills School of Irish Dance, we aim to give every dancer the opportunity to learn, perform and thrive in our classes,” explained Rebecca. “They not only learn to dance, but will build friendships, confidence and a knowledge of the fitness they will need to grow in the dance world.”

And it’s clearly an approach that works, with Laura, a parent of one of Rebecca’s students, adding, “Rebecca is a lovely patient teacher. My daughter looks forward to her dance lesson every week and to all the different performances that get arranged.”

The Hills School of Irish Dance is based at The Weston Methodist Church, and The Gateway Centre in Bath with weekly classes running on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Regular performances and workshops such as Bath Carnival and local community events give dancers every opportunity to show off their new routines, so be sure to look out for them around Bath this summer!

Places are available for all abilities from age four through to adults, including the newly added ‘Mum’s class’. This new class provides a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where mums can bring their children, so no need for a baby sitter!
