News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Students across both Bath College campuses have been nervously opening their GCSE results this morning.

Students who study at the college often take GCSE Maths and/or English alongside their studies to maximise their employability or future study options.

The sun shone as envelopes were opened by shaky hands. Lisa (above), who came to the Somer Valley campus with her two sons to collect her results, was absolutely delighted when she opened her envelope.

She said, “I can’t believe it! I’m so pleased. And the best thing is, I have now secured my dream job at Fosseway School.”

Harry (above) took his GCSE English alongside his Access to Higher Education course. He was in shock when he opened his results to find he had scored a 9, the equivalent of an A*.

His tutor, Carol, said, “We are so proud of all our students, but Harry has worked particularly hard. What a fantastic achievement.”

Students Kim and Billie (main picture) were jumping up and down they were so proud of their achievements, with Kim stating, “I’m so happy! I haven’t taken an exam for so many years so to get so much higher than I expected is amazing. I can go to University now!”

GCSE results day can be a stressful time for many, so Bath College has careers advisers on hand between 10am-2pm on Friday 24 August for anyone to come in for advice and guidance on what your results mean, help with online course applications or answer questions about coming to College or applying for an apprenticeship.
