News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

A forest school session for adults is returning following demand from local parents and carers. The PlayWood Adults session will take place on Sunday 30 September from 10am-1pm on the Bath Skyline.

Costing £30, PlayWood Adults will be run by forest school teacher Tania Orgill from PlayWood Forest School, and offers a relaxing morning with fresh coffee and homemade cake by the camp fire, alongside the chance to learn new skills that can be shared with children, including crafts, stories, songs and camp fire recipes.

“PlayWood Adults began as a result of parents asking that they wished they could have a PlayWood session of their own,” explained Tania. “I’d also noticed that teachers and teaching assistants were showing more interest in learning the things that I was covered with children during my sessions in schools, so that they could take the children out of the class more often”

“The first PlayWood Adults workshop was very successful – everybody who came along clearly enjoyed learning new skills but also chatting with each other and finding they had things in common. The beautiful site where we hold the workshops is a very peaceful place, and it’s great to see people relaxing as the activities take place – in fact, it was hard to leave the woods when we finished!”

Local mum of three, Ellen Couzens, attended the first PlayWood Adults workshops and explained, “It was just great to have a morning of peace and quiet in the outdoors as part of a group of parents and carers who were so supportive and kind. There was a wonderful range of crafts and activities that you could dip in and out of as you liked, as well as the chance to just sit and chat with other adults.”
