News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Counselling charity We Hear You (WHY) is offering a specialist counselling service in Bath for children and young people aged four to 25 who have been affected or bereaved by cancer or another life threatening condition.

The charity has provided one-to-one counselling for adults in Bath since 2005 and group counselling for adults living with and beyond cancer since 2017. The addition of children and young people’s counselling means the charity’s full range of services are now available in the Bath area.

Gwen Rogerson, Children’s Counsellor at We Hear You, said, “WHY already provides counselling for children and young people in Frome, Street and Yeovil, as well as school-based services in Frome, Radstock, Trowbridge and Westbury. We now have an opportunity to reach children and young people living in the Bath area who are affected by cancer and other life-threatening conditions, who would previously have had to commute to access the service. They could be a patient themselves, or a friend or family member of someone who is unwell.

“The value of emotional support at this difficult time is beyond question and our specialist counsellors are able to work with children as young as four to help them work through their feelings in a safe and supportive environment.”

We Hear You’s counselling service for children and young people takes place in the Carers’ Centre, Woodlands, Lower Bristol Road, BA2 9ES on Wednesdays from 4-7pm. To find out more or refer a child or young person for counselling, call 01373 455255 or email email hidden; JavaScript is required.
