News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

A new ‘learn to swim programme’ is coming to Bath over the Easter holidays that uses revolutionary techniques to assist children of all ages to develop their skills.

The courses are run by Katie Cookson of the Elite Swim School, who explained, “The course is the first of its kind where we aim to teach a child to swim and self save over a course of two weeks (or 10 lessons) using technique only used by Elite. Our aim is to ensure that even the youngest participants can float should they fall into the water, while
also understand about breathing and how to move independently around the water.

“The course is open to children aged 18 month and over, with parents initially joining in in the water with children under the age of three years. Throughout we make sure that both parent and child are happy and relaxed at all times.

“We welcome all children and the course is great for those who have a fear of swimming or had a negative experience of water in the past. In fact, we’re confident that we can take children who are non-swimmers to ASA stage 2 in two weeks!”

The course will at Kingswood School in Bath on the weeks beginning 8 and 15 April, with each course running from Monday-Friday. The cost is £200 per child.
