News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Pupils from Bathford Primary School were among the special guests who recently attended the official opening of a new children’s play area.

The play area in Bathford was designed with the local children in mind. In the early planning stages, Bathford Primary School asked the children what they would most like to see included in the new design. Where possible this was incorporated providing them with the equipment they would most like to use.

Bathford Parish Council’s decision to undertake a project to improve the playground was made possible due to grants totalling £85,000 from Enovert, The Community Infrastructure Levy, The National Lottery, BANES Ward Councillor Funding and The Community Empowerment Fund.

The new play area was officially opened on 2 April by The Chairman of the Parish Council, Hugh Baker, and Edward Webb who had donated his time to help with the project. Edward was the founder of Playforce and offered his expertise in the area on a voluntary basis to the Parish Council. The opening event was also attended by a number of representatives of the Parish Council, HAGS the playground suppliers and Cllr Geoff Ward from BANES.
