The Spring term saw a range of sporting success for children at The Paragon School. The U9A football team were victorious at the Millfield Prep Tournament in early March, scoring 18 goals and conceding none, whereas the U10A team were runners-up at Millfield a couple of weeks later. The U11A team demonstrated fantastic team work and were runners-up at the ISFA Tournament in Bristol, losing in extra time in the final.
The U11A Rugby 7s team was invited to play at the Stonyhurst Festival in Clitheroe, Lancashire. They played exceptionally well to remain unbeaten at the end of the day, winning six matches and drawing one. Director of Sport, Mr Toby Goodman, said it was a fantastic opportunity for the team to play at such a stunning venue against some of the best schools in the north of the country, such as Merchant Taylors’, Sedbergh, and Manchester Grammar.
In hockey, the U11A boys team (pictured above) won the tournament at Cricklade Manor Prep in March and were one of the top four school teams in the West of England in the U11 Hockey Finals at Millfield Senior School.
The U11B Netball team won every match they played this term, and 20 boys and girls qualified for the British Schools Biathlon Final at Crystal Palace in London where many ‘personal bests’ were achieved.
Mr Toby Goodman, Director of Sport, said, “We are delighted with how well our teams have played in so many sports across all the age-groups. It is also great the girls are being selected to play in our ‘boys’ teams. We were the only school at the various fixtures with girls playing in our U11A Football and Rugby 7s teams and they certainly held their own.”
