News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Springboard Chippenham is launching its new campaign this week to help raise and exceed the £140K needed each year to support its charitable work supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities aged between 0-5 years.

BABS, Buy A Brick for Springboard, is a new initiative to encourage families, individuals and businesses to donate to this small specialist pre-school charity in the heart of North Wiltshire.

A ‘brick wall’ has been created in the school so that people can donate and have their name on a brick – building the foundation of the future. To promote the campaign, BABS is launching a video and soundtrack created by music producer, Adrian Chivers, came into Springboard and filmed the children on a typical day at play.

Head of Music at Heywood Prep, Angelique Williamson, then offered to write and perform an original and unique song for Springboard called ‘Sunshine’. Angelique, with the help of her band The Red Bandits, took on the challenge and found help from David Shepherd who recorded the song in his studio in Box.

The result can be seen on Springboard’s website, where donations can also be made to the charity.

Angelique said, “It was an absolute honour to write a song to support this incredible cause and we hope that our song ‘Sunshine’ reflects the positivity that Springboard brings to so many families lives”

Springboard’s Manager, Jane Boulton, added, “Every day at Springboard feels like a special day. The children and their families are a constant inspiration. This collaboration of video and song from AD and Angelique is showcasing our work with the children at a new level. It is a dream working with such passionate people. This opportunity will help us to give the children the best play and learning opportunities that we can. We want the little children to grow into young people and adults that can make their way in the world. We want the world to be ready for these little people.”
