News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Bath City Farm’s parent-toddler group, Roots & Shoots, begins again on Tuesday 24 September and will be delivered by PlayWood Forest School and Outdoor Learning. Sadie Rhodes, an experienced environmental educator and member of the PlayWood team, will lead the sessions from 10-11.30am on Tuesday mornings during term time throughout the year.

“Having attended the group with my own toddler and seeing how much she enjoyed it, I am looking forward to leading the sessions and working with lots more children and their families,” said Sadie.

“The farm is a wonderful place and we are so lucky to have it here in Bath. At Roots & Shoots children will feed the chickens and goats each week, and be able to see all the other animals at the farm. A snack and drink will be provided for the children and the adults will be able to buy drinks from the little café at a discounted rate. Gardening, crafts, activities, stories and games linked to the seasons and the animals will fill the rest of the morning session.”

As spokesperson for Bath City Farm added, “We believe that children benefit hugely from time spent on our nature-rich farm, developing curiosity, confidence and empathy through exploring our environment and getting up-close and personal with our animals. We are so excited about partnering with PlayWood Forest School and Outdoor Learning, and we are confident that the high quality of the sessions will welcome more and more families to enjoy all that Bath City Farm has to offer.”

The Roots & Shoots sessions cost £3.50 for one child, £5.50 for two and £7.50 for three. Concession rates are available, please ask a member of staff. No booking is required but there are limited spaces so it will be ‘first come first serve’.
