All Hallows Brass Band dressed up in Victorian clothes and visited East Somerset steam railway to give a recital to the local community.
All Hallows Brass Band and Year 2 pupils visited the East Somerset Railway this week to give a recital to the local community, including the Cranmore Friendship Circle. A beautiful autumnal day brought visitors to the station where the All Hallows musicians dressed in Victorian clothing and played a variety of well known Victorian hymns, finishing off with a rousing rendition of the National Anthem. The musicians form part of the Concert Band and were playing a selection of brass and woodwind instruments – for some of the young pupils it was their first concert!
Year 2 pupils were also thrilled to visit the station as part of their transport topic this term. They delighted in hearing the steam engine toot and felt like real railway children, as they chuffed along the track to Mendip Vale, enjoying being transported back to the beginning of the last century.
Mr Castle, Head of Performing Arts, said, “All Hallows Concert Band was delighted to dress up and capture a moment in time, by playing familiar tunes to the local community in the wonderfully atmospheric and historic setting of the East Somerset railway.”
