News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

The FilmBath Festival returns to the city from 7-17 of November and this year’s schedule features a beautiful children’s film plus two relaxed screenings – perfect for those with special needs.

This year there are 37 feature films, 46 short films plus events taking place in seven venues around the city.

For families, A Minuscule Adventure / Minuscule: Les mandibules du bout du monde is showing on Saturday 9 November at 10.45am at The Little Theatre.

This delightful and unusual animated tale stars insect characters involved in a simple enough plot: during a raid on a village shop, one of our heroes is accidentally packed into a box of chestnut purée and sent to the Caribbean. There is no alternative but for the whole gang to fly to the rescue.

The appeal of this French production lies in the absence of dialogue resulting in a degree of visual flair and wit rarely found in its Hollywood counterparts. ‘A thing of beauty’ – The Observer.

There will also be a relaxed screening of the film on 11 November at 11.30am at the egg theatre.

The relaxed screenings offer a warm welcome to people who feel overwhelmed by the ordinary cinema environment. These screenings are open to anyone who would benefit from a relaxed, non-judgemental atmosphere, including (but not limited to) people living with dementia; people with an autism spectrum condition; people with learning difficulties; people with sensory or communication difficulties; parents with young babies; and anyone who feels they would benefit from a more supportive and inclusive experience.

the egg theatre will also be showing a relaxed screening of The Peanut Butter Falcon on 11 November at 5.30pm.
