News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Year 10, 11, 12 and 13 students from Ralph Allen School in Bath have enjoyed an informal careers event held at the school to showcase a variety of roles that will be available to them in the future.

Not only did students have the opportunity to talk to more than 50 volunteers from various professions about their careers, they also got to practise their communication skills. Among the professional taking part were representatives from The Bath Vet Group, Juice Recruitment, The Olive Tree restaurant, Wiltshire College and The Bath & Wiltshire Parent.

“Having the opportunity to experience a mini-interview situation boosted their confidence and has helped them prepare them for their future,” said Deputy Headteacher Mr John Chantry. “Many students reported how interesting and inspiring their discussions had been.

“We are extremely grateful for the volunteers’ time (including some parents) in both participating and advertising our event, which provides our students with vital support in decision-making about their future. It is great to know how supportive our Ralph Allen community is and how working together can really help the students to prepare for life after school.”
