News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Two Rivers CofE Primary is a new school for Keynsham and will admit its first reception class pupils in September 2020.

Wellsway Multi Academy Trust is working with B&NES Council and the Department for Education to open the primary school, which will have a Church of England ethos and will be open to everyone.

The school will take its name from an important geographical feature of Keynsham, the confluence of the rivers Chew and Avon, and will serve the growing population in the town.

Its permanent site will be in the Hygge Park housing development near Wellsway School in east Keynsham. Until the state-of-the-art buildings are ready, sometime in 2021/22, children and staff will be housed in purpose-built temporary accommodation on the Wellsway campus.

Four of the 13 schools already run by Wellsway Multi Academy Trust – Wellsway School, IKB Academy, Chandag Infants and Chandag Juniors – are already on this site.

Andrea Arlidge, chief executive of Wellsway Multi Academy Trust, said, “I am delighted to be involved in opening this new primary school for Keynsham. As a trust, we have a family of 13 other schools from Bristol to Bath. We are really excited about opening Two Rivers CofE Primary School which is an important development for families in Keynsham.

“Wellsway Multi Academy Trust has an excellent track record of primary school performance. Like others in the trust, pupils at Two Rivers Primary will enjoy access to trust facilities at other schools, such as science experience days at IKB Academy and sports events at Wellsway Sports Centre.

“Staff will benefit from collaborating with other schools in the trust and can draw on a wealth of skills and expertise.”

School meals will be provided by the trust’s own Zest Catering, which recently won ‘Best In House Caterer’ at the national EduCatering Awards.

Anyone interested in finding out more is invited come along to one of the information events, which will be held at the Crest Nicholson marketing suite in the Hygge Park development, on
Wednesday November 20, 6pm – 7pm and Saturday November 23, 11am – 1pm
