News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

It’s been a very busy and productive couple of months for the pupils at Corsham Regis Primary Academy in Corsham, with science and storytelling leading the way.

“Children from across the school have been enjoying lessons with a core science theme, which saw 15 different experiments taking place,” explained Miss Sian Denning, Science Curriculum Leader. “These included Years 1 and 2 learning about different materials and their properties, including using the tale of The Three Little Pigs as the basis for designing their own shelters for the pigs, using their scientific knowledge of materials to help them.

“In Key Stage 2, the children focused on rocks and states of matter. This included Crystal class enjoying Roald Dahl’s George’s Marvellous Medicine while Amethyst class delved into the book Itch by Simon Mayo, which tied in brilliantly with their scientific enquiries.”

“We’re also so proud of Benjamin in Year 5 and William in Year 3 who were highly commended for their Corsham Storytown 500 word stories,” added Headteacher, Gareth Spicer. “What’s more, congratulations go to Olivia from Year 1 who was the overall winner of the Corsham Town Council Christmas Card competition. Her prize was to switch on the Corsham Christmas Lights!”
