The Bath Strings Academy has launched a series of events for musicians of all grades, from beginners through to grade 5 and above.

Musicianship For Beginners (photo above)
Sunday 29 March 9.45am – 12.45pm
This half-day workshop offers an opportunity for beginners on any instrument to experience the joys of making music together. The morning will take in some fun and approachable pieces using voice and percussion, as well as game-based learning, designed to develop musicianship skills, build confidence and inspire practice.

Who is this workshop suitable for?
This workshop is suitable for beginners, Grades 0 – 2 who sing or play piano, strings, wind, brass or percussion. Family groups are welcomed – parents play for a fiver!

Course Fee: £22 per player (including booking fee)
Sibling Discount: £17 (including booking fee)
Mentor: £11 (including booking fee)
Parent: £5 (including booking fee)
Course Times: 9.45am – 12.45pm

Irish Folk Music Workshop
Sunday 29 March 1.45pm – 4.45pm
String players can join in for this half-day workshop on Irish Folk Music. During the afternoon you’ll get your toes tapping as you learn some famous Irish tunes by ear and from music. You will look at traditional techniques, starting off on some of the bowing patterns and ornaments that will make all the difference to your Irish sound.

Who is this workshop suitable for?
This workshop is suitable for string players of Grades 2 – 8 who play violin, viola, cello or double bass.

Course Fee: £22 per player (including booking fee)

Chamber music retreat for adult learners and returners at Rudge Hall – perfect for parents just getting back to playing instruments after having kids. Take time out for yourself and have fun playing beautiful music in a relaxed and friendly environment with supportive coaches, plus tasty tea-time treats!

Who is this workshop suitable for?
This workshop is suitable for adult string players of Grades 5+ who play violin, viola, cello.

Course Fee: £50 per player (+£3.50 booking fee)
All profits go to the Bath Strings Academy Bursary Fund supporting young people to access music.

BBC Ten Pieces family orchestral and DJing workshop
Sunday 17 May 10.00am – 4.30pm
Award-winning Bath Strings Academy presents a BBC Ten Pieces Orchestral Workshop as part of The Bath Festival, led by members of the BBC Symphony and BBC Concert Orchestras with four times World Champion DJ, Mr Switch.

Join in for an inspirational day of family music-making as you play Gabriel Prokofiev’s Concerto for Turntables and Orchestra and create your own original compositions, culminating in a performance for friends and family.  Open to players of orchestral instruments of all ages and experienced or novice DJs; bursaries and discounts available.
