News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

The Avon Valley Railway is running its first trains of 2020 this February half term. The heritage railway in Bitton will be running its diesel multiple unit (DMU) or diesel-hauled trains every day apart from Mondays and Fridays, from 15 – 23 Feb. Trains depart regularly from 11am until 4pm with tickets costing just £8 for adults, £7 for concessions and £5 for children. A family ticket (two adults and up to four children) costs £23.50 and all under 5s travel free.

Mark Simmons, the railway’s Commercial & Business Manager, said, “February half term is a great time to visit the railway and enjoy a trip onboard our trains. Our DMU train has big windows offering lovely views over the Avon Valley and you also get to see the driver at work up close in the front cab.

“Our café will be open from 9.30am each day too, serving breakfast, lunch and tea and cake. ’

The next trains will then run on Mothers’ Day with a special three-course ‘Pines Express’ dining train departing at 12.15pm. With a menu including salmon mousse, roast beef and lemon and lime cheesecake, this always proves one of the most popular dining trains. Some seats are still available at £40 per person and can be booked at www.avonvalleyrailway.org
