News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

St Michael’s Junior School in Bath has welcomed its new adopted grandparents to the school to take part in an assembly. The five senior local residents, George, John, Agnes, Gladys, Maureen and Brenda, all live at Cleeve Court Residential Home in Bath, and were invited to the school to be part of an initiative to extend its reach into the local community.

“It was something that we started last year and have decided to repeat again this year,” explained headteacher, Clare Green. “The residents are local to us and by inviting them to be part of the school, its helping the children to celebrate ‘service’ as a school value, as well as developing the social skills of the children.

“It was also great timing, with the event taking place in children’s mental health week, and helping to put a smile of the faces of everyone involved.”
