Widcombe Acorns pre-school and forest school in Bath is celebrating its fourth outstanding Ofsted grade in a row. According to B&NES council, this is the only pre-school to have attained this record and B&NES even sent the staff a congratulatory card!

Alongside the ‘exceptionally strong and caring ethos’ at the pre-school, Ofsted praised the staff for the engaging learning activities which take place there, which sees the children being involved with nature and doing woodwork, gardening, outdoor cooking and art. They also praised the manager, Dena Moore, and her staff for their ‘shared vision and drive for constant improvement.’

“Everyone at Acorns is absolutely thrilled to have received their fourth Outstanding rating in a row,” said Dena. “The small team here work so hard to ensure that each and every child reaches their full potential and has an incredible year full of amazing experiences. We are so happy that the Ofsted inspector recognised how settled, happy and engaged all of the children are, and how beneficial the forest school sessions are to their confidence and well-being. ”

To mark its 46th anniversary and to celebrate the quartet of Ofsted wins, the pre-school is inviting anyone who has attended Acorns over this time to a party at St Marks Church Widcombe on 1 May. It will be a celebration to remember with live band, games, food and bar.
