As part of its ongoing careers development programme, a group of Year 10 students from Oldfield School in Bath experienced ‘A Day in Life of a Barrister’ workshop organised by the University of Law.
The event was designed to encourage students considering a career in law. The Year 10s took part in a mock case, supported by law professionals and University of Law students, debating the facts put before them and acting on behalf of a defendant. The student than presented their argument to a real judge in a mock court set-up.
“We were delighted to have Oldfield School attend our Day in the Life of a Barrister workshop,” said Jade Montagna, Student Recruitment Officer at The University of Law. “All the students engaged well with the day and behaved brilliantly. They were brilliant at preparing for the mooting competition and deciding how to argue their case. I know a couple of them will go onto be fantastic barristers, solicitors and judges, and I am sure all of them will go onto have successful careers in their chosen area. We would be keen to do another event with Oldfield students”.
