News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

A group of students from Three Ways School in Bath who have been self-isolating because of their own or their families medical needs are being supported by a donation of activity packs and balloons, as well as personal visits, from Metro Bank.

Three Ways School is a special school in Odd Down in Bath which has remained open during the lockdown for key workers’ children and the most vulnerable students. Staff have provided online support, with regular calls, access to virtual curriculum teaching and learning, as well as some amusing videos of toilet roll throwing, teachers singing and superhero PE activities.

As some students have gradually been able to return to school, ‘The Happiness Bubble’ is a group of students who have had to remain at home due to shielding for medical needs. During the term, the school’s teachers have ensured over 100 families have had home visits by staff in fancy dress costumes with a parcel with a treat, curriculum activities and music and singing on the doorstep or in the front garden.

The Team from Metro Bank said, “It is a pleasure to be able to support the school and community at this time, to bring a few smiles to faces of families who have had to isolate for months is so heart warming.”

Colin Ball, one of the staff members supporting the Happiness Bubble, added, “We have had so much fun surprising students we haven’t seen, apart from on screen, for months. To see faces light up when a parrot or Mickey Mouse brings them a box of goodies has been wonderful. We are so grateful to Metro Bank, Quartet Community Foundation, Nova Sports and Coaching, Westport and St John’s Foundation for their support and donations over lockdown.”
