Young photographers aged from 11-19 years have been awarded prizes in the Chippenham Young Photographer Competition.
The competition was organised by The Photo Club in partnership with Chippenham Local Youth Network, with The Photo Club founder, Kez, explaining, “This year’s entries showed so much talent – I am impressed with the young people who continued their creative outlet during the difficult times in lockdown.”
To launch the competition, Kez visited local youth clubs and schools to deliver photography activities and workshops to inspire young people to take part. Kez even went LIVE on Instagram with Danielle from The Rise Youth Team to interact with young people during lockdown.
The competition winners are –
Ages 11-13
1st place – Thomas Martin, Age 12, ‘The pathways to the skies’
2nd place – Sophie Collins, Age 13, ‘One rainy day’
3rd place – Emilia Pottle, Age 12, ‘Nature awakening’
Ages 14-16
1st place – Olly Cook, Age 15, ‘Double Vision’
2nd place – Ben Woodhead, Age 15, ‘Life in lockdown’
3rd place – Thomas Cocks, Age 15, ‘Garden Blue-M’
Ages 17-19
1st place – Bethany Gray, Age 19, Dusk at spey shore
2nd place – Leo Thompson, Age 17, ‘Colour college’
3rd place – Fran Harman, Age 17, Louis’
The winners collected their prizes at a socially distance awards evening where the winners came to collect their prizes and see each others photographs. Peter Hutton, chair of Chippenham Local Youth Network, thanked Kez for all the work she has put in to create a successful photography club for the second year running.
The first prize winners each received a £30 gift voucher, second prize £20 and third prize £10. All entries also received a 10% discount on all courses from The Photo Club.
