News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

The Wiltshire Music Centre is launching a new youth choir programme, the Wiltshire Youth Choir, commissioned by Wiltshire Music Connect. The choir, for young singers aged 12-18, will deliver free half term Come and Sing Taster Days in Bradford on Avon and Salisbury, alongside bespoke choral courses.

Cassie Tait, head of Creative Learning at WMC, explained, “After a seven month delay due to Covid-19, we are so excited to finally bring Wiltshire Youth Choir to life. Now more than ever, we want this new programme to support young singers who may not be able to sing with their school choirs or are just finding it hard to keep singing at this time. We are passionate about the social, physical and emotional benefits of singing with each other, and cannot wait to get started.”

The half term workshops are free and open to everyone who loves to sing. There will also be an option to attend online.

Wiltshire Youth Choir will bring passionate young singers together from across the county to explore a variety of different musical genres and styles, and develop their voices with a team of experienced vocal leaders. Designed to support and extend the already rich choral tradition in schools and communities across the county, the Wiltshire Youth Choir will give cross-county opportunities for singers to perform and share their passion, as well as improve technique and performance skills.

Two free Come & Sing Taster Days will take place in October half term

  • Thursday, 29 October 10.00 – 12.00 at Salisbury Arts Centre
  • Thursday, 29 October 2.00 – 4.00 at Wiltshire Music Centre, Bradford on Avon
