News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Pupils at King Edward’s School in Bath are soon to benefit from a new 35x20m multi-purpose astroturf space to be installed towards the top of the meadow area behind the Junior School. The facility will serve as both a play and training space for junior pupils during the day and for after school training for both junior and senior pupils.

This exciting new development has been made possible by a very recent large donation specifically for this purpose. In conjunction with other generous restricted donations, this means that almost all the costs associated with the project will fall outside of the school’s capital budgets.

The architect’s image above helps to illustrates how this new space will look (please note it is not to scale and it doesn’t include the surrounding fence and the screen of trees that will be planted at the lower end). The build time is estimated at around 15 weeks, which should see the project completed by around February half term.

The contractor, Verde Recreo, installed the school’s main astroturf surface a few years ago, as well as the Pre-Prep astroturf. They will work closely with the school to ensure both minimum disruption during the day and also that all applicable lockdown measures are strictly and safely adhered to by the small number of workers who will operate, within a segregated compound, whilst on site.
