News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Year 5 pupils from Fitzmaurice Primary School in Bradford on Avon have enjoyed an activity day at Thousltone Park with the Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team. The activity day was arranged as a replacement for the pupils’ annual residential trip being cancelled due to the COVID pandemic.

The children enjoyed a fun filled day, taking part in a variety of activities including climbing, archery, axe throwing, laser tag, fire-making and problem solving.

“The school very much recognises the value that residential trips have on a child and the experience of living and learning together alongside friends away from home is invaluable,” said Head teacher, Tracey Dunn. “We knew how excited our Year 4 pupils had been about the residential and whilst understanding the reason for the cancellation, they were extremely disappointed. Whilst we couldn’t provide the full residential experience, all the pupils returned from the activity day saying how fantastic it was and how many fun activities had been squeezed into just one day. I’m sure it will be a day that they remember for many years to come.”
