Snapdragons Nursery has won a national Nursery World Award for Working with Babies and Toddlers. The award is designed to recognise that Snapdragons’ specialist training for practitioners caring for the under twos is comprehensive, encompassing every aspect of a child’s experience, from emotional security, physical comfort and educational development. Every aspect of the environment, training and care is seen from the child’s view with empathy and compassion at its heart.

Snapdragons also appears in this year’s Nursery World top 25 nurseries listing, eighth in the country for its Ofsted ratings. “I am so proud of this achievement and has to pinch myself when I think that it all started in a cosy, farmhouse nursery in the heart of Atworth village!” said Snapdragons’ director, Rosemary Collard.

“Over the following 23 years in early years education, Snapdragons has developed a progressive and innovative approach to childcare which has inspired generations of babies and young children. This Early Years approach is influenced by philosophies such as Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Te Whariki, and Forest School, all of which are blended into a unique curriculum providing a holistic learning experience.

“The nursery is accredited by The Curiosity Approach and children are inspired to learn through exploration of authentic resources, both inside and out, which encourage a deep level of involvement and stimulate children’s imagination. This learning is supported by an experienced and highly qualified team who are encouraged to continue their own education and growth, developing their knowledge and careers.”
