Pop and soul legends The Christians are headlining Somerstock, a family friendly one music festival that will be the highlight of the week long Somerton Music and Arts Festival, taking place from 2-10 July 2021.
In addition, there will be 15 other bands, a stunning dance-circus performance by Motionhouse, entertainment and activities for all the family, food, bars and stalls. Even better, there are discounted tickets for readers of the Bath Parent!
The festival was put on hold in 2020 but, as festival Chairman, Cliff Bassett, explains, “We are delighted that our headliner, The Christians and all the other bands have all agreed to come back for 2021. With two outdoor stages and a marquee, we provide a choice of acts throughout the day covering many genres and featuring up and coming local and original acts as well as many family favourites.”
Joining The Christians on the Trebble Roofing Stage will be Whole Lotta Led, ska from Rude Boy Mitch & The Two Tones, original Reggae from Talisman and outstanding sax from Tom Waters and his band.
Bands including Everyday People, Matt Owens (of Noah and the Whale), This is Queen, some piratic originals from Black Friday, soul from Area 52, outstanding and heartfelt originals from Jack Humphries, all feature on the Somerton Windows stage.
Meanwhile in the marquee will be leading local acts from the Glastonbury FM song writing competition, west-country gumbo from Al O’Kane and the soulful Shoun Shoun, along with Graffiti Falls, Cover All Bases and the legendary Snake Snake Snake.
As a family-friendly festival, there will also be a wide range of activities for children including a silent disco, circus skills, crafting activities, face painting, and a bouncy castle.
“We aim to cater for all,” says Cliff. “As well as all the children’s events, there will be fully stocked bars and a wide variety of food and retail stalls. On-site parking and on-site camping are also available. We can’t wait to welcome you to our friendly, fun and Covid safe festival.”
