News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

St Andrew’s Church School in Bath is inviting parents and carers to visit its nursery and learn more about the places that are available there for the year beginning September 2021.

St Andrew’s Nursery is located within a self-contained Foundation Stage area inside the school, providing Nursery children both the security and joy of their own outdoor play area, as well as the ability to play with and learn from their Reception year peers. Nursery children also enjoy strong connections to the rest of the school, giving them a rich emotional and academic start, which can make the transition to Reception much easier.

“We weren’t sure how our shy, small, barely three-year-old would cope with the transition to what we thought of as ‘big school’ from his private nursery,” said parent Karyn Wolstenholme, who has one child in Nursery and one in Reception at St Andrew’s. “We’ve been blown away at how smooth the transition is. Nursery at St Andrew’s has been the best of both worlds. Our boys get the benefit of great teacher-student ratios and play-focused exploration, but also a gentle introduction to school as a whole. To see my toddler confidently skipping into school each day is a testament to the hard work of the school staff.

In addition, St Andrew’s Church School is beautifully placed to enjoy all that the UNESCO World Heritage City of Bath has to offer, including Royal Victoria Park and the Royal Crescent, as well as Bath’s many museums, galleries, theatres, and cultural landmarks.

“We are really excited to invite parents and carers to visit our Nursery in person – in a Covid-safe manner – to experience first-hand our commitment to our children,” said Jayne Rochford-Smith, Headteacher at St Andrew’s. “We value the joy of play and are committed to nurturing the whole child as well as the whole family in our approach to learning. We have a team of highly qualified and experienced teaching staff who ensure an inspiring curriculum for the children.”
