This month, Mr Michael Park will take over as the new Principal at The Manor C of E Primary School in Melksham. Following this appointment, the current interim principal, Anna Willcox, will depart the school to continue work at The White Horse Federation.
Starting as a Year 4 teacher in Manchester, Mr Park has over 30 years of experience as a teacher across the country in Plymouth, Bath and Wiltshire. In his most recent role, Mr Park led Princecroft Primary for ten years, improving outcomes and leading the school to a Good Ofsted report.
Asked what made him decide to take on the role at The Manor, he said, “I wanted a new challenge and when I visited The Manor I was impressed by the enthusiasm and passion of the whole school team. I want the children in The Manor to have the very best education and I hope that we can work together as a school community to make that happen.
“The Manor has the opportunity and potential to be a great school that provides an excellent education for the children in the Melksham community.”
In his spare-time, Mr Park, who lives locally with his two children, is a keen runner and has completed both the London and New York marathon.
In the coming weeks, Mr Park will be introducing himself to parents and carers. Highlighting the importance of communication between parents and the school, he said, “A school cannot work alone and it needs the support of the whole school community. I hope we can work in partnership to help give the very best education to the children at The Manor.”
The Manor C of E Primary School is a member of The White Horse Federation multi-academy trust. Speaking about the appointment, Executive Director of Primary Education, Simon Cowley, said, “In Michael, we are hiring an experienced teacher with an exceptional record of school improvement as a school leader. I look forward to working with him to help keep The Manor on the path towards becoming an outstanding school.”
