News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Shaw Primary School welcomed Michelle Donelan MP into their school last week. She gave an assembly to the Year 6 pupils about her experiences being a member of Parliament. The children engaged through a question and answer scenario throughout the hour.

Principal Thomas Brewer has also introduced an England Lacrosse coach to teach extracurricular activities at the school. Mr Brewer said that, “Sport activities have rapidly increased in popularity in the last few months because of this. Children are now accessing a number of sports such as netball, football and lacrosse.”

Melksham’s future mechanics have also started a ‘Car Club.’ Supervised pupils are volunteering to check staff members’ cars under bonnets and producing ‘Shaw MOT’ certificates. Pupils are checking oil, windscreen wash, and tyres before washing the cars in their overalls during their lunch break.

“Our staff, children, and parents are so proud of all we have achieved here,” added Thomas. “Our school has a wonderful learning atmosphere that creates a positive buzz everyday.

“As you can see, there’s a lot going on at Shaw! Come and see us or get in contact with our school office if you’d like to volunteer or join our team.”
