Bath Theatre Academy is set to present a new residency at The Egg Theatre in Bath which opens as First Year students stage Variations, appearing on Friday 5 May at 6pm and Saturday 6 May at 8pm. Written by Katie Hims, Variations features 20 young actors and will mark Bath Theatre Academy’s sixth year of performances.
Directed by Sophie Cottle, Variations is recommended for audiences aged 14 years and over, and follows the story of Alice, who trapped in an endless cycle of eating breakfast, explores the ideas of identity and fate.
Another group of twenty First Year Bath Theatre Academy students take to the stage with buckets, which plunges audiences into a performance of happiness and sadness, illness and health, youth and experience, kissing and crying, and singing and dying. With performances on Friday 5 May at 8pm and Saturday 6 May at 6pm, this production, directed by Scott Hurran and presented by arrangement with Nick Hern Books, is recommended for everyone aged 14 years and over.
buckets writer, Adam Barnard said, “buckets began life at The Egg. I wrote the first draft as part of an attachment through the Leverhulme Arts Scholarship, and early scenes were first read and heard on The Egg stage. How lovely that – some 60 productions worldwide since – it’s now being staged at The Egg, where it began, through this exciting project.”
Later in the month, Second Year students will take to the stage with Glass Town, a fun exploration of the Brontë siblings as children, as Bath Theatre Academy’s residency continues at The Egg from Thursday 18 to Tuesday 23 May.
