This year’s Lacock Scarecrow Trail raised in excess of £11,500 for the local primary school. The trail, which took place over the weekend of 8-9 July, followed the them of Famous Duos, saw Lacock streets lined with children’s TV characters, comedians and even Tom Jones’ hairy chest!
For the first time, each scarecrow was sponsored so that local businesses could also be represented through the trail. Lacock Primary School’s children also produced some excellent drawings for the children’s trail. The family fun-filled atmosphere flooded the whole village with live music, incredible smells from the roaring barbecue and cream teas to keep everyone’s spirits up with the ever-changing weather!
“The money raised will now be used to subsidise trips for the pupils,” said Lucinda Prater from Lacock Primary School. “It will also subside schemes we use in school, such as Power Maths, while also helping with projects which have previously included the library and playground.
“A huge thank you to everyone who made the weekend such an incredible success – from those who made the scarecrows and sponsored them, to all those involved in the running of events and serving food, to those involved in carefully planning to make sure the day ran smoothly and all the residents of the village and National Trust who allowed the space to be used to run the event.
“We hope all those who were able to attend enjoyed the experience and look forward to when we can host another trail again next year!”
