Students and staff from Wellsway School in Keynsham raised more than £500 for Cancer Research UK in a charity fun run. Participants ran 433 laps of the school track – a collective 108 miles!
The run was organised to support fundraising efforts by Daniel Money, a former student of Chandag and Wellsway schools, who was diagnosed with bowel cancer last November at the age of 24.
Daniel, a junior doctor in Birmingham, says he has chosen Cancer Research UK because, “I appreciate how important up-to-date research is in helping increase treatment options for people, like me, who are currently undergoing chemotherapy.”
Wellsway principal Rob Pearsall thanked staff, students, sports leaders and sports ambassadors who led and took part in the run, and encouraged and supported one another.
“This event was great fun with much laughter and a wonderful way to round off a day,” he said. “We are all keen to support Daniel’s fundraising. This is a charity close to many of our hearts.”
