News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

Springmead School and Nursery in Frome is welcoming local parents and toddlers to its free new learn-to-draw class on Thursday, 21 March. This special session is designed to help children aged three to four develop their emerging drawing skills in an environment which has helped a number of pupils win awards for their artwork.

The class is free to attend and will be open to all members of the local community. However, spaces are limited, so those attending must book their place with the Springmead team. It will take place in the school’s art block, which has recently been unveiled after an exciting rebuild.

In a testament to the school’s thriving art programme and state-of-the-art learning environment, more than one pupils’ art entries have received 1st place in three categories in the 2023 ISA South West Art Competition and were finalists in the National Art Competition.

Sally Cox, Head, said “It’s a joy to be able to build on the success of our Baby Explore group and extend our learnings to toddlers. We love opening our doors to the local community and encourage both new and familiar faces to attend this special session. Our talented teaching team have a wealth of experience and encouragement to offer.”

Shirley Offer, Deputy Head, added, “Our art department has begun to flourish recently. To help nurture creativity and fine motor skills, this class will support parents and their children to work together to meaningfully develop their drawing skills. It’s also a lovely way to connect with other families and experience an enriching, creative environment.”
