News, events and schools' information for families across Bath and West Wiltshire

VOICES is a Bath-based charity founded by women with lived experience, dedicated to providing recovery support and advocacy for people affected by domestic abuse. It is also a platform which enables the voices of people with lived experience of domestic abuse to inform and improve service provision, in response to their needs.

This charity is asking local groups and businesses to help provide donations for its Christmas Fair in the form of gift items, beauty products, festive food and drink items, and gift vouchers.

The Christmas Fair will take place on 7 December at Elim Church on Charlotte Street in Bath, with stalls selling crafts, cakes and gift items, as well as crafts, food, live music and a raffle, plus a special visit from Santa!

There will also be the opportunity for other small charities and community projects to raise awareness and funds for their projects.

Any company or organisation that is able to help will have its name printed on a large banner that will be displayed at the event, along with a mention of thanks on the day. They will also be included in the social media campaign as a donor and supporter of VOICES and the local community.

Tara Gelpey from VOICES explained, “Our mission is to get the Bath community together to unite, raise awareness of our community needs and support them in a fun and festive atmosphere.

“VOICES works together with people who have been affected by domestic abuse, whether in the past or more recently, to prevent harm and promote recovery. We aim to help families to recover and thrive. We do this through individual support and advocacy, and a suite of group recovery programmes.

“We also create opportunities for people with lived experience to help design effective services and policy.

“We provide consultation and training for professionals and services, and work to raise awareness of the realities of domestic abuse in our local community.”

Anyone who is able to offer support is invited to contact VOICES at email hidden; JavaScript is required, 01225 984189 or 07523 506239.
