St Philip's Ofsted 1

St Philip’s CofE Primary School in Bath is proud to announce the publication of its latest Ofsted report, which celebrates the school as a happy and welcoming place for pupils to learn and grow.

The inspection, conducted on 5 and 6 November 2024, highlights the strong sense of community and the positive relationships between pupils and staff.

The report states, ‘Pupils enjoy attending this happy and welcoming school. The school’s vision is lived out through the warm, caring environment and the positive relationships that pupils and adults have. Pupils feel safe at school. They are confident that adults will help them with their learning or address any concerns they may have.’

The report also commends the school’s ambition for all pupils, recognising the way children are supported to achieve well and contribute confidently to their learning. It notes, ‘From the start, children in Reception Year learn to follow classroom routines, and this helps them to listen and respond to adults. Most pupils achieve well. They engage with their learning and are enthusiastic to answer questions and contribute their ideas.’

The school’s ethos of respect, kindness, and responsibility is reflected in the pupils’ behaviour and their contributions to the school community. The report praises pupils for being polite, considerate, and actively engaged in initiatives like the school council and the eco team. It states, ‘Pupils are polite and considerate. They move around the school in a calm and orderly way. Pupils have opportunities to contribute their ideas to the school… These experiences help pupils to develop their character and a sense of responsibility.’

Headteacher Mrs Jo Coppens shared her pride in the school community, commenting, “We are thrilled with this Ofsted report, which reflects the warm and caring ethos of St Philip’s. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our pupils, and the support of our families. Together, we create a school where every child feels safe, valued, and inspired to achieve their best.”
