The Meadow CIC raises £1,500 in sponsored sleepover event

The Meadow

The Meadow community came together for a heartwarming event at Tunley Recreation Centre, raising an impressive £1,600 to support their beloved self-directed learning community. Children who attend The Meadow participated in a sponsored sleepover filled with songs, stargazing and plenty of laughter, even if there wasn’t much sleep involved. The event highlighted the children’s enthusiasm and commitment to protecting the unique space they cherish.

“The sponsored sleepover was such a beautiful testament to the spirit of The Meadow,” said Founder and Lead Facilitator, Claire Imhasly. “The children were excited not only to have fun but to give back to the community that supports them so deeply.”

The funds raised come at a critical time, as The Meadow faces growing challenges from rising costs and an unprecedented demand for its services. The Meadow CIC provides a nurturing environment for children, many of whom are recovering from school trauma and thrive in its flexible, consent-based approach.

A Vital Support for Families in Need
As the need for alternative education solutions grows, The Meadow continues to support families seeking a compassionate and individualised experience for their children. Staff work tirelessly to ensure each child feels valued and empowered to explore their interests in a safe and welcoming community.

“This sleepover reflects what The Meadow is all about – community, creativity and a shared belief in supporting children to flourish,” said Director, Jessie Lowe. “We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to making this event a success, and to the families who show their unwavering support for what we do.

“The Meadow CIC is more than just a learning community – it is a lifeline for families navigating the challenges of conventional education. With events like the sponsored sleepover, the community is demonstrating that even in challenging times, they can come together to protect and nurture this vital space for children to grow, heal and learn in their own way.”
