This April, audiences of all ages will be treated to the premiere of an exclusive concert at the Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon, before it’s performed by the London Symphony Orchestra and at the Leeds International Piano Competition.
Created by esteemed conductor Tim Redmond and world-renowned pianist Alexandra Dariescu, Concerto is an action-packed show that shines a light on the concerto – a piece of music that spotlights an exceptional soloist accompanied by whole orchestra – in this case, the brilliant West of England Youth Orchestra.

Join the audience at Wiltshire Music Centre on Sat 12 April for a whistle-stop tour through three centuries of breathtaking music for piano and orchestra, including famous works by Bach, Mozart, Grieg and even new works that have just been written!
There will be two one-hour performances at 3pm and 6pm, and to make it even more special, the Wiltshire Young Musicians are running a free event for children aged 5+ and their adults, where they can try out different string, brass and wind instruments alongside their encouraging tutors.
Alexandra Dariescu is a Romanian-British classical pianist, educator, mentor and producer who was the first female Romanian pianist to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in 2013. Having made her concerto debut at the age of just nine, she has played with orchestras including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. Now, West of England Youth Orchestra are delighted to have her mentor and perform with them.
“This will be a concert like no other—a musical time machine that takes you from the early keyboard concertos of Bach to the rich, expressive worlds of Mozart, Beethoven, Clara Schumann, and beyond,” said Alexandra. “We’re performing fragments of different works, so you’ll hear how styles, ideas and emotions have changed over the centuries.
“But what really makes this concert special is the passion of the young musicians on stage. There’s something incredibly powerful about hearing them bring these works to life. Expect energy, storytelling and music that will move you, challenge you and stay with you long after the final note.
“I hope this concert will open doors for audiences and young musicians alike, showing them not just how these pieces were written but why they matter today. Music is a living, breathing art form and I want everyone who comes to this concert to feel inspired by its evolution and excited about where it can go next”.
