150 Children at St Margaret’s Prep took part in a fundraising walk in aid of their school charity SWIFT Medics on the last day of term. Walking between 1km – 7km from the school grounds all the way along the cycle track in Calne! Even Mr Hopkins dog, Oti took on the challenge in the glorious sunshine.
At the beginning of the year, each of the four Year 6 council leaders from the Wiltshire prep school proposed a charity to the whole council that they would like to support for the year. During a council meeting, each leader told the rest of the council about their proposed charity; what they did and why they wanted to support them.
Molly was particularly passionate about her charity, Swift Medics, because her Dad was one of the medics and she saw how hard he worked. The council agreed on that charity in the end because they wanted to support a local charity, who helped lots of people. The medics and other people who work for the charity, give their time and expertise voluntarily.
“There is something special about bringing the whole Prep School community together for events such as this,” said Head of Sport Mr Dury who organised the event. “Appropriate challenges were set for in all age groups with our youngest Bluebird Nursery children walking 1km through to Upper Prep walking a whopping 7km.
“The children rise to all challenges we at St Margaret’s Prep and this was undertaken with commitment, perseverance, teamwork and fun.”
